New Holland Island
Design of an exhibition of urban proposals for New Holland Island
David Kohn Architects has designed an exhibition of urban proposals for New Holland Island in St Petersburg for the Iris Foundation. Organised by the Architecture Foundation, the exhibition includes schemes by Yuri Avvakumov & George Solopov, David Chipperfield Architects, Dixon Jones, Lacaton & Vassal, MVRDV, OMA, Studio44 and WorkAC.
The exhibition was staged on the first floor of the city's naval museum which overlooks New Holland Island. A continuous ribbon-like screen created new rooms for drawings, models and films of the proposals. The penultimate room offered a view of the site while the last room provided tables, postcards and wall space for local residents to add their views. The exhibition opened on 15th July 2011.
