Piper Building

Three new mansion blocks in Parsons Green.

The Piper Building in Parsons Green was formerly home to the North Thames Gas Board. When the Gas Board departed in 1995, Baylight Properties bought the site and converted the building into 78 loft-style apartments that took advantage of the high ceilings and riverside views.

There has been a recent planning application for a strip of nine storey residential buildings between the Piper Building and the Thames, along Carnwath Road, which would significantly alter the Piper’s urban context and amenity.

David Kohn Architects has proposed a series of three mansion blocks along Carnwath Road that match the scale of the consented schemes opposite while creating a large new podium courtyard garden for the Piper. The garden will become the new focus of the ensemble of new and existing buildings also complimenting an earlier scheme by Pierre d’Avoine Architects at the north of the site.
